My mother-in-law was able to come up this last week to help Mark by doing some care giving. We desperately needed some help. We are so grateful that she was willing and able to come and help us. It was so nice to have her here. We have a beautiful wood cradle that Mark's dad and uncle built for us. My mother-in-law and I (mostly her) worked on a project to put some padding around it and make it nice for the baby. She also helped me with some mending. After she left I felt motivated to use my sewing machine. My in-laws gave me the machine for Christmas. I was so grateful for it, but I've hardly even touched it. I think I was kind of afraid of it. I really don't know too much about sewing. I've only sewed things under close supervision. I need to be told what to do next and how to do it. We had material left over and my mother-in-law left me all ready to make a receiving blanket. So I did that. Pretty easy. No big deal. I didn't break anything and it looks like a blanket. This morning I found that I had some scrap material that matched the blanket. I decided to attempt a burp cloth and piece it together like a mini quilt. I figured worst case scenario I could just throw it all away. Miraculously it actually turned out pretty well. I'm sure there's an easier and better way go about it but I DID IT. It's not all lopsided and ugly. I think it's a fancy little burp cloth. Too bad it's going to get spit up all over. :)
I have a picture to post BUT I'm having technical difficulties with it and my technician is gone for the night care giving. Hopefully we will get it posted tomorrow.

I love your posts! Always so positive and you give me that extra boost to go do something I haven't done. I too should attempt sewing but I keep putting it off. I can't wait to see pictures of your projects!
