I've been struggling to get Isaac to sleep through the night for a while now. Last night was the best night ever!!! He went to sleep at 8:30 pm and didn't wake up AT ALL until 8 am! He was such a happy boy when he woke up and I was a happy momma. 11 1/2 hours straight. That's what I'm talking about :) I hope we can continue this. We've been anxious to kick Isaac out of our room and if he's willing to sleep this well I think it will work out to have him and Lexi share a room. Does anyone have any tips on having your kids share a room? Should I put them to bed at the same time or let one fall asleep first? What about nap time? Any suggestions?
The kids will start sharing a room when we MOVE in a few weeks. We found out this morning that we will be moving! Yay!! It's a two bedroom country house, With a yard! And lots of storage space in the basement! We're really excited. We are sad to leave our ward but hope to integrate quickly into our new one. And (in my mind) the biggest downside is there is no dishwasher in the house. However, there are so many upsides of moving that hopefully we can do our dishes with a smile. OH, and I didn't even mention the rent is CHEAPER! Not by much but hey cheaper is cheaper. It's a happy day!

That is so awesome about the moving and the sleeping through the night. Adrianna is starting to sleep for 6 to 7 hours straight at night and it's so nice. Now if we could just get the 2 year old too :)
As far as the moving two kids into the same room thing, I've been through that 3 times now. We've found it easiest to have the oldest go to sleep first and then put the younger one in first...that's just because our older ones usually go to sleep earlier and on their own, whereas we rock our younger ones and they usually don't go to sleep until about an hour after the first two.
I hope that helps. Nobody has the perfect method and everyone has their own way of making things work. Hope you find something that works for you.
Congrats again!
I also find the most success putting Joshua down first, then putting Caleb down. Joshua tends to sleep through any winding-down crying, where Caleb will sit up and interact with Joshua if he hears any loud noise.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS TO HAVE GOTTEN THAT PLACE!!! We'll have to come over some time to see it. I wish we could help you move (well, sort and move. It's the sorting that always gets me).
AWESOME!
That is so nice that Isaac is sleeping better. I would say (but I don't have two children- only one) that I would think it would be easier to put them to bed one at a time. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get two kids that young to go to sleep at the same time. But I haven't gone through it yet, so good luck. That is really neat that you are getting a yard and a house with more space. I do feel pity for you for not haveing a dishwasher- I HATE doing dishes, so I hope that maybe someday you can get a dishwasher, they make life so much easier and less stressful, i think....:)
Hey congrates on the new place! But seeing as your moving I would suggest that you put them together right from the start as soon as you move in. That's how we got Alaina out of our room (finally! the kid was a year old--way too long! But that's just how it ended up working out for us I guess) Anywho, she never new the difference, in this house she just had her own room. In your new house the kids will never know not sharing. (someone gave us this advice and it worked well for moving situations so maybe it will work for you). good luck!
Sleeping in the same room for Joshua & Hannah works well. Sometimes we let Joshua stay up later because he's older, but both ways work out fine for us. It's easier for us to put them to bed at the same time, then you only have to do it once. Also Naps in the same room don't work for us, they just play, but if one naps in our room and one in their room it's perfect. Good luck, it's always hard to get a routine going at first, and then when you get it down perfect their needs change :). It will work out for you.
I appreciated reading the comments about room sharing since we'll have to cross that bridge in a few months. Let me know how yours goes. :) And cheaper rent than Honey Locust is pretty dang good! Fun, fun to have a yard! Good luck!
