We arranged for the kids to stay at my in-laws Thursday night. My mother-in-law offered to pick the kids up in Boise and we headed over to the Edwards IMAX theater to see Avatar. Watching a 3D movie in the IMAX made it feel pretty realistic. Afterwards, we went to eat at Olive Garden. Everything was SO tasty!
Then we headed over to the Anniversary Inn to check in. At the check in desk we had soft yummy cookies with chocolate chunks.
We chose to stay in the South Pacific Suite. Where divine chocolates, cheesecake and sparkling apple cider awaited us.
There was a huge jetted tub and a waterfall to shower under. It almost felt like you were really outside under a mini waterfall.
The king size bed and 52" TV was under a bamboo hut.
Breakfast was brought to our door right when we wanted it. It was delicious!
It was such a perfect relaxing getaway. It was nice not to worry about the kids or really anything else for the matter. We'll definitely have to go back someday.
Our date wasn't over at check out though. We went and did some frugal thrift store shopping. In Boise there is a fabulous store called Other Mothers. I love it. You can bring in clothes, toys and such that you don't want anymore and if they accept the items you brought you can either receive cash or credit. Then any items they didn't want you can donate to their 25 cent sale. The last weekend of every month they have a 25 cent sale!! Some things are stained and not to be desired BUT some are in good lightly used condition. I left with 50 items including coats, shoes, pajamas, and jackets for $12.50! Talk about a good deal!!
At another thrift store it made my day (and I was already having a great day) to find a kid's book I'd been searching for for 10 cents, and the Memory Game for Lexi for 1 dollar!
Because we are so frugal (and the radio station was generous) we stretched our gift cards out. When we were done shopping we went to theater again to see Blind Side. I'd heard great things about it and really liked it. Then we went to Olive Garden again for lunch. We did a little browsing through some stores and then headed to Mark's parents house to see our kiddos! (In case you're wondering we're saving the Cold Stone for some family outings at home. In fact, we're going tonight!)

I'm glad you were able to have such a fun getaway!
I love the Anniversary Inn. Preston took me there for one night of our honeymoon. We liked it so much that we went back Christmas of 2008 as our Christmas present to each other. Though, we had to pay for everything. What did you have to do to win?
What’s kinda funny is that there’s a very good chance that we are going to live within 2 blocks of there, that is if this house deal goes through.
PS-I know Andrea from my home stake. We had good times at girls camp and dances. She was one of my "Dam" friends. He he.
w00t! Lucky!! Looks like fun!
I've always wanted to win one of those getaways - lucky ducks!
That sounds like such a nice weekend. Especially since it wasn't coming out of your own pocket Congrats guys!
